Using only 12 watts of power, CREE LED lights use 85% less energy than incandescent lighting and 20% less energy than CFLs. Also, the CREE LED light looks far more similar to natural daylight. Each LED light should last around 50,000 hours and they are ideal for new construction and remodels. Unlike CFLs, the CREE LED lights contain no mercury, reach their full brightness instantaneously, are dimmable on a standard dimming switch, and easily fit into standard recessed can lights.
CREE LED lights have a Color Rendering Index (CRI) of 94 or higher. The Color Rendering Index measures how accurately a light source renders the color of an object when compared to the true color of the object under natural daylight. Natural day lighting, the highest quality lighting, has a CRI of 100; CFLs have a CRI of 82. In addition to can lights, CREE manufactures a downlight for 2’ x 2’ grid ceilings.
